Advantages
- They are low cost
- Their long length cover a very large CAT6 run
- Are compatible with gigabit networks
- Are backward compatible with older networks
- Unterminated means it’s easier to pull through walls and ducting
- Can be cut to desired length
- In pure material terms, unterminated CAT6 cable is cheaper then buying pre-terminated cables
Disadvantages
- Will have to cut and terminate the cable
- CAT6 cables are slightly more expensive than CAT5 cables
- Pure copper cable although fantastic quality is dearer than CCA type cable
