Connect a satellite receiver to a router e.g. to allow you access the iPlayer on a Freesat receiver (UK only)
Advantages
The cables are pre-terminated
Saves on the time needed to make a cable
Don’t need to buy the crimping tool & RJ45 connectors
Can be sure the wires are correctly wired
They come in a range of colours for easy identification
They are good quality cables at a low cost
Disadvantages
It is not always possible to pull pre-terminated cables through existing ducting or walls
The pre-cut lenghts may not exactly match your requirements and may leave slack
The longest pre-terminated cable may not be long enough
In pure material terms it is more expensive to buy pre-terminated cables than cable & connectors
